Author Jill Sheeley

Jill Sheeley has lived in Aspen for over 52 years fulfilling a life long dream of writing and publishing books. She lives high in the mountains in a log house with her yellow Labrador Retriever, Ranger.

Her 1st book, Christmas in Aspen was written as a tribute to the wonderful people of Aspen. Next, she combined her love of cooking with her love of writing, resulting in 2 cookbooks, Tastes of Aspen and Lighter Tastes of Aspen. Jill’s mother, Ruth Stern, lovingly illustrated these first 3 books.
As a contented mother of a young daughter, Jill’s focus soon changed. After reading Courtney hundreds of books, she decided to write an adventure book for children. Fraser, the family Lab and Courtney were the logical main characters and remain so after 8 books in the Fraser series. The titles of these avaiable books are:

Fraser Rescues Christmas, Adventures of Fraser the Yellow Dog, Rescue on Snowmass Mountain, Adventures of Fraser the Yellow Dog, Rescue on Star Mountain, Adventures of Fraser the Yellow Dog, Rescue at Maroon Bells.

Jill is excited to introduce young adults to a book right up their alley, The Blue Bottle. This book, her first young adult adventure book, is a tale of travel and mystery that takes place in the Caribbean.

Many years later Jill published a memoir ‘Those Were the Days: Memories of an Aspen Hippie Chick’ recounting her life in Aspen as a ski bum. The book incorporates historical photographs and mountain cuisine recipes from the Aspen area taken from her previous cookbooks.

When asked about why she writes, Sheeley quickly replies, “Writing is like breathing. It brings me joy—plain and simple.”
